So we have had the pleasure of creating fun memories for new families.  Rather han have the doctor tell you the sex of the baby, have him hand it to you in an envelope. Pass that off to your favorite baker and have them dye the inside of the cake the appropriate flavor.  What a fun way to tell your family all at the same time.  Its like they are with you in the untrasound room!!

People often ask, how do you come up with those crazy cupcake flavors??

Its simple, I just try to think of what I like, or what flavors are popular. When I say flavors I'm not just talking about cake flavors. What are the popular ice cream flavors, or what's popular to eat at a baseball game, or what are the new "trendy" drink flavors.  After that you have to think about what flavors pair nicely together. Such as pretzels and carmel....our GAME DAY cupcake.  Or trendy drinks, like almond flavored liquer which lead to this weeks special the NUTTY IRISHMEN!  So if your trying to create a new great flavor...dont get hung up on what cake flavors should be!  Go with what you

Cake decorating is a form of art.  So as with most pieces of art the artist tends to get lost in their project.  What a great way for kids to unwind from todays high tech world.  All it takes is a cake, some buttercream of course...and a few tools of the trade. Enjoy:)

Gluten Free deserts are hard to pull off and have them stay moist.  I think mainly becuase we are so used to cooking with flour.  It takes time and kids listen up....science plays an important role.  It took us a while to balance the different flours (coconut...almond...all purpose gluten free).  Each of these have different affects on the baking soda and baking powder in most recepies.  If your trying to pull off gluten free baking keep working on your flour percentages and your levening agents.  GOOD LUCK

During January it is a bit slow so make sure you pre-order your gluten free deserts!

Our Gluten free deserts are so great we were mentioned in Edible South Shores Blog:)

So yes we are a small business. And Yes, we love when customers tell us they are trying to support local businesses.  We very much appreciate all of our customers from those that come in every day for a scone.  You know who you are. To those who purchase all of their family party cakes from us!  We do our part as well. We try to buy as much from local vendors as possible. And when we can buy from family run businesses whenever possible.  Family run businesses are fun to frequent....But man and we can vouch for this...they are hard to run.  But without our family...the two of us would be shall we say up a creek without a paddle. So Thanks to all and remember January is a slow month for businesses ,,,so stop in and say hi:)
